“November” (photo by Su Layug)
(excerpt)

So we wait, breeding
mood, making music
of decline. We sit down
in the smell of the past
and rise in a light
that is already leaving.
We ache in secret,
Memorizing

(Tagalog translation by Su Layug)

Kaya naghihintay tayo, nag-uudyok
ng damdamin, lumilikha ng tugtog
ng pagtumal. Inuupuan natin
ang paglanghap ng nakaraan
at umaahon sa liwanag
na payao na.
Lihim tayong kumikirot,
Nagsasaulo
