Ngunit isang gabi, isang babae
ang naligaw nang nahagip siya
ng dumaraang alon
ng mga naglalakad at napatingala
sa malayang hungkag
na parihaba
na ngayo’y nakabitin
sa mga gilid
sa pagitan ng winalis na putik at langit

swept into a passing wave
of commuters and she
looks up toward the perfectly
empty rectangle
now hanging between
the rutted mud and the sky.
